Dodo is an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) that uses Optus network coverage in Australia. It’s among our top choices for SIM cards for the elderly, but also for users without a need for conventional plans or worries about overstepping the limitations to calls and texts, especially in roaming. An added benefit is that Optus 5G network is becoming available in more areas almost daily. But you don’t need convincing, do you? You’ve already decided, ordered a SIM card, it arrived, and now you need to know how to activate your Dodo SIM card. Well, let’s help you with that.
1. Activate Dodo SIM card online
No matter how you obtained your Dodo SIM card, it will automatically activate 10 days after it was dispatched. While useful for those who aren’t tech-savvy, this is, understandably, an unacceptably long period. For that reason, you can visit Dodo’s Activate page, then, depending on how you acquired your SIM card, click on one of the following buttons:
1. Ordered Online or Promotional
After clicking on this option, follow these instructions to activate a Dodo SIM card:
- Enter your SIM card serial number.
- Note. You can find above the golden chip of the SIM card, below the bar code, or printed on the SIM card itself.
- Enter the e-mail address you provided when you made the order.
- Click on the Activate SIM button.
- Your Dodo SIM will be active within a few minutes to a few hours.
2. Ordered via Call Center
Besides ordering over the phone, you should choose this option if you picked up a SIM card from any of the Dodo Kiosks in Australia. Now let’s demonstrate how the activation of a Dodo SIM card works:
- If you haven’t already, open the e-mail service provider for the e-mail address you provided.
- Click on a link that allows you to set up a username and password for your My Dodo account.
- Note. This link expires 3 days after the SIM card is dispatched. You can click on I forgot my details instead of step 5.
- Switch over to the My Dodo page you were redirected to.
- Sign in with the e-mail address/username and password you chose when you created the account.
- Look through your details, and if needed, click on Update details.
- Unless you get explicitly asked to activate your SIM card, insert your SIM card and connect it to the Internet.
2. Activating Dodo SIM card via phone call
Dodo has created an alternative for users without Internet access. It includes calling a voice machine at 13 DODO or 13 36 36 from within Australia and following the audio prompts. Keep the Dodo full-size SIM card handy, since you’ll need to either enter or recite your SIM card serial number. Additionally, you must provide personal details and set up your My Dodo account.
3. Contact Dodo Customer Service
If you run into trouble at any point during the process, or the activation doesn’t commence, don’t lose hope. Instead, use the following ways to reach out to Dodo Customer Support:
- Call. On top of the number above, you can get in touch with Dodo Customer Support via landline at 02 8375 3629 (+61 02 8375 3629 overseas). They’re available Monday-Sunday, 9 AM-6 PM.
- Live Chat/Contact Form. Sign in to My Dodo, then click on the Support Request link. Enter your name, date of birth, address, and contact number, and e-mail address. You can also use Web Chat during work hours.
- In-person. Swing by the nearest Dodo Kiosk.
