1. Activate GiffGaff SIM card via their website
Here’s how the online activation of a GiffGaff SIM card works:
1. Visit the activation page and enter one of two codes
To begin the process, head on over to the GiffGaff Activate (giffgaff.com/activate) page. Then, do one of the two before clicking on the Activate your SIM button.
- Enter your 6-digit activation code above the bar code on the back of the GiffGaff SIM card package you received.
- Enter your 13-digit SIM card serial number printed on the nano-SIM card. It will start with “4Ggg4”, and might have 16 or 19 digits in some cases.
2. Register a member account
Now’s the time to set up a GiffGaff user account like this:
- Enter your e-mail address and the desired password.
- Click on Yes please or No, thanks, depending on whether you want to sign up for their mailing list.
- Click on Register.
- Tip. A random member name will be generated in the background. You can change it in step 5.
3. Select a monthly deal or top-up your credit (Alternative)
It’s time to select a payment plan by selecting one of the following options:
- Plan on using a postpaid SIM plan? Select one of the “goodybags” from the list by clicking on the Select button.
- Want to use a pay-as-you-go/prepaid SIM card? Click on Just need credit? Select the credit amount, then click on Pay now.

Tip. The minimum amount required for GiffGaff SIM card activation is any “goodybag” option or a £10 credit/voucher.
4. Sort out your payment details
This screen will only appear if you chose to pay with a credit or debit card. Enter your card number, name on the card, expiry date, CSV, and your billing address (first and last name, address, city, and postcode). Click on Pay now.
5. Finish the activation and confirm/change member name
The moment you see the “Welcome, here’s your member name” or “Hurrah, welcome aboard” messages, your GiffGaff SIM card is activated. Click on the Confirm button, and insert it into the smart device. However, you might have to wait between a few minutes to 24 hours for the network signal to appear.
Optional. Click on Change member name to edit the random member name GiffGaff assigned to you.
