TNT is one of the leading cellular service providers in the Philippines, creating a huge demand for methods of activating its SIM card. An added reason it’s so popular among the masses in the country is its far-reaching GSM network and incredibly low prices. As if that isn’t enough, TNT doesn’t try to box in its customers regarding what they can and cannot do on the network. Instead, they offer a wide array of plans for talking, texting, mobile data, and many mixed packs. However, to benefit from any, you must first learn how to activate a TNT SIM card. That’s where we come in.
Before you start
As mentioned, TNT offers a wide variety of plans and packs. Through the type of SIM card remains identical, such as prepaid or postpaid, there is usually a specific code you must use to start using that particular package. In other words, the methods below, which are intended for general use, may not work. Thus, try to remember if there was something written when you ordered the SIM card. If you can’t, we suggest:
- Visiting the Products, Promos, and Rewards sections on the official website (https://tntph.com/) to look for a plan name and, consequently, the activation code
- Checking your e-mail address for a message from TNT
- Carefully investigating the 3-in-1 SIM card package you received for a printed code
1. Enable cellular data
We’re starting with an instant method that, while not specifically designed for activation, produces results in many cases. The premise is simple:
- Turn on mobile data on your phone from the notification bar at the top. Alternatively, tap the mobile data widget on your home screen.
- Head over to the official website (https://tntph.com/) on the same device.
- You’ll get a “Welcome to TNT!” SMS shortly afterward. It will notify you that your SIM card is now active. Alternatively, it will tell you which SMS or USSD code to use, and those should match ours.
2. Activate TNT SIM card via a USSD code
Another rudimentary, yet effective, technique is to perform a balance check after you insert your SIM card. There are multiple ways to do so, and we’ll dedicate an entire article to them. For now, try this simple USSD code:
- Dial *123# and call.
- When the USSD code loads, head to Balance/Services.
- Select Check Balance.
- You’ll now see the balance if the system connects your phone number with a plan you might have paid for.
- If so, you’ll see a success message, “Welcome to TNT!”
- Turn on mobile data to receive APN (Access Point Names) settings. Try calling and texting to see if the activation truly panned out.
3. Text TNT to finish SIM card activation
Another straightforward procedure is to text a designated TNT phone number. The system will send you an SMS back providing details about your current balance. However, like above, it will also let the carrier know your SIM is ready for activation. Follow these steps to activate SMS card from TNT based on its network coverage:
3G/4G LTE
Insert the SIM card and boot to the home screen. First, send an SMS containing BAL to 214 or ?15001, also to 214. You’ll get a reply notifying you of successful activation. If that doesn’t work out, don’t fret. The secondary text you can send is UROWN to 4545. Inspect whether this produced any results.
If it didn’t, there’s a high chance the plan you chose depends/on an add-on, likely a temporary freebie. For instance, some users reported success shortly after they sent FBFREE to 4545 to get 15 days of Facebook data free of charge. Whatever the case may be, you’ll get a welcome message we already described.
5G LTE
Smart is a Filipino mobile network carrier that permits superb 5G speeds at over 4,400 locations in the country. Since TNT is a subsidiary of Smart, users can order a 5G-enabled SIM card cheaply. If you’re one of those and didn’t get it activated at the store, do the following:
- Insert the SIM card into the designated slot. Boot to the home screen.
- Despite the fact no signal shows, you’ll receive an automatic SMS from number 3723.
- As the message suggests, you will have two minutes to reply with what they ask of you.
- If you don’t respond in a timely manner, two new SMSes will arrive:
- From 3723 again: “To proceed with SIM upgrade, reply to this message with your mobile number. Gentle reminder to use your current phone for this process. Thank you!”
- From Smart: “We did not receive your mobile number. Please try again or call *888 for assistance.”
- Don’t do anything until you get an activation confirmation SMS.
- Restart your phone, and you’re ready to use your TNT SIM card.
4. Activate TNT SIM card through Customer Service
As mentioned, one way to begin using your SIM card is to visit the nearest Smart or TNT Store. Besides that, you can contact TNT Customer Support by:
- Calling: As we just pointed out, dialing *888 lets you get in touch with experts at the parent company, Smart. However, if you only have a landline or no secondary TNT SIM, you can dial (02)8888-1111.
- Social media: TNT is available on Facebook (@TNTph), and Twitter and Instagram (@tntph)
- Sign in/Download app: You can log in to your user account on the TNT website to reach out. Alternatively, you can download their GigaLife applications for Android and iOS and sign in there.
