This new age of smartphones has brought the best out of designers and producers of devices and all the parts that make it a functional unit. Gone are the days where a phone had to be thick to house a good camera, high capacity battery and a high-resolution screen. When creating the newest addition to their collection, manufacturers like Samsung and Apple try to fit all the basic features and still add or upgrade others without too much change from the previous model. That’s exactly where the Hybrid SIM slot comes into play – essentially allowing you to put either two SIM cards, or one SIM card, and one SD card. Here’s our list of 10 best smartphones with a hybrid SIM slot you should be on a lookout for.
These are the list of the smartphones that come with a Hybrid slot at the time of preparing the article. There might be newer devices that perform better.
1. Samsung Galaxy S9
First on our list – the latest addition to the Galaxy family, and a flagship smartphone, of course. It comes equipped with 4 GB RAM and up to 256 GB of internal memory, so adding an SD card might not be necessary unless you need a lot of space. To add to that, you can record 4K videos with 60 frames per second using their 12 MP camera, and take selfies with Galaxy S9’s 8MP front camera. Finally, enjoy a fluid and pleasant Android 8.0 experience thanks to an Octa-core CPU and the latest Adreno 630 GPU. This is one of the best smartphones your money can buy, and it’s well worth the hype.
2. Samsung Galaxy S8
We can’t go far without mentioning the last year’s Samsung Galaxy S8 version. It does look like we’re biased towards Samsung’s products. However, some facts have to be accepted – they really understand customers, and even with some fails in the books like their Note 7 fiasco, they rose from the ashes and came on top. The smartphone in question comes equipped with a 5.8-inch bezel-less screen, with a razor-sharp 2960×1440 resolution you just can’t help but notice. Luckily, 4GB of RAM is available here just like on S9, which just goes to show that’s all you need. Of course – the Octa-core processor in combination with Adreno 540 GPU is all you’ll ever need.
3. LG G6
Even though it came last year, this phone is still very popular. You’re getting a razor-sharp resolution of 2880×1440 pixels, which makes for an 18:9 ratio of the IPS display that measures 5.7 inches in diameter. The screen is just bright and vibrant, and you won’t regret choosing this phone. Android 8.0 is available here, which means you can use your phone specs to the maximum. What sets LG G6 apart is the dual camera of 13 MP on the back – you have the capability to record videos in 4K, although in 30 frames per second, which is still awesome. Finally, even though specifications were just a tiny bit under the competition in 2017, so was the price.
4. Huawei Honor Note 10
Let’s mention a phone that just came out – in August of 2018. We’ll be honest, this is one of the biggest screens we’ve ever seen on a phone, which puts it in a category between a phone and a tablet. We’re talking 6.95-inches in diameter! While the resolution doesn’t match the size, it’s still decent for the price – 2220×1080 pixels (18.5:9 aspect ratio), and that gives us around 350 PPI density. They could’ve done better with the resolution, but the specs are magnificent, and in return make the phone run blazing-fast on Android 8.1.
5. HTC U12+
Another newcomer to the world of smartphones, this time from HTC. Hybrid SIM feature is present here, even though you’re probably going to use it with one SIM and one SD card. The reason, you wonder? Well, it only comes in variations of 64 or 128 GB of internal storage, and that might be too low for your needs. The resolution makes the screen look ultra-sharp – 2880×1440 pixels we’re used to and already love. The screen size is 6″, which gives you enough space for all multimedia and business purposes.
6. Xiaomi Mi Max 3
Just as we’ve seen with previous models, this phone is really pushing the boundaries to the maximum, hence the name. The screen has never been bigger – 6.9″ is almost being considered a tablet. However, the resolution is disappointing – only 2160 by 1080 pixels, which does give an 18:9 aspect ratio we love, but only 350-pixel density, which up close doesn’t look the best. Ah well, you can’t have it all, right? The price is competitive and affordable, and while the specs aren’t pushing the limit, they’re understandable for the price you’ll pay. Finally, a dual-camera combination of 12MP/5MP will add a cool Bokeh effect with its depth sensor. Cool, right?
7. Huawei P Smart+
Once again, a phone that was just launched could be the phone you always wanted, and even needed, even if you didn’t know. While only 128 GB of storage might not be enough, it can be expanded by a maximum of 256 GB using that hybrid SIM feature we cherish. We’re not sure what to think of the notch, just like Apple did with their Apple iPhone X – you either like it or you don’t. The camera can’t match Samsung Galaxy ones and only has the capability to shoot 1080p videos and in 30 frames per second. We honestly think that’s a bit underwhelming for 2018, and it should be at least 2K. However, they didn’t compromise when it comes to specs, and they’re excellent.
8. Xiaomi Redmi 6
Sometimes you don’t need a top-notch phone to be happy, and this model might be something you want. Just a fair warning, it’s not up to par with flagship phones, but the price is drastically lower too, which fits. With that out of the way, it comes with an IPS screen that’s just under 5.5-inches and boasts a pleasant ratio of 18:9 with a resolution with 1440×720 pixels. Yes, we’re aware that’s low a smartphone that came out in July of 2018, but the phone isn’t for everyone. At least it does come equipped with a dual-camera combo of 12/5 MP, and the newest Android 8.1 upgrade.
9. Samsung Galaxy S7
As we’re approaching the final choice, it’s important to mention an older phone that’s still very relevant. Just think about it, some new phones have similar or even lower specs than this legendary smartphone. Additionally, you might be able to get a second-hand one in mint-like condition and save a lot of money. Even though the display is small (5.1″), the specs are its main selling point. Octa-core combination of Mongoose and Cortex A53 CPUs will still blow you away when it comes to performance. You’ll be surprised that this phone, even though it came in the middle of 2016, can still go head to head with the newest additions to the smartphone world.
10. Nokia 8
In the end, we have to give it to Nokia, even though we were sure they’re completely out of the market and lost, they managed to skyrocket back to the world of smartphones. This model is a proof of that, and while it’s just a little outdated-looking, and only sports 5.3-inches in diameter, the resolution is a saving grace – 2560 by 1440 pixels will make anything you watch look like real life! In addition, Adreno 540 will run all graphic-demanding games helped by an Octa-core processor – last year’s Snapdragon 835. Finally, even though the phone doesn’t look too modern, filming 2160p resolution videos in 30 fps will certainly cheer you up.
