Maxis Communications, also known as Maxis Berhad, is a telecom service provider based in Malaysia. It is the largest and the oldest telecom in the country, founded in 1993. Its headquarters are in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but it operates in various countries of Asia, North Africa, and South America. Hotlink is the most popular service the carrier offers, which represents both its prepaid and postpaid SIM card. Hotlink operates on 4G and LTE networks and has over 6.3 million subscribers in Malaysia. Maxis offers quite easy-to-use options to check your various kinds of balances. There are mainly 3 ways to check your Maxis or Hotlink SIM card balance:

  1. Through USSD codes
  2. Via Maxis app
  3. Using Maxis self-care web portal

Check Balance Maxis SIM Card Balance Using SSD Codes

USSD stands for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data. USSD codes are unique to every operator, and are short and easy to remember. In some countries, they are known by the name short codes or star codes. The following are some important USSD codes for Maxis subscribers:

  • *122# : To check the main balance (prepaid and postpaid).
  • *100# : To open Maxis Easy Menu. You can also call 123 or 1800 821 123 for the same.
  • *136# : To activate 3G data.
  • *136*4# : To deactivate 3G data.
  • *117# : To activate background music.
  • *139# : To check your own Maxis phone number.
  • *135# : To activate phone book backup.
  • #135# : To deactivate phone book backup.
  • *133# : To activate GPRS (RM 10 chargeable).
  • *131# : To activate caller ringtone (RM 3 per month).
  • #131# : To deactivate caller ringtone.
  • *111* 14-digit code# : To reload/recharge/top-up.

Checking Balance Using Maxis Mobile Application

This is an online method i.e., it requires you to have an internet connection. Moreover, it’s a mobile application, so you need a smartphone or tablet. Maxis app is available both on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. You can manage multiple accounts on this single app. Here is how to use the Maxis mobile app for checking your balance information:

  1. Download and install the app.
  2. Open the app and register yourself with your Maxis mobile number or email address and password.
  3. Tip. This is only in case you don’t already have an account on Maxis. If you are already registered, just log in with your details.
  4. Next, you will see a dashboard containing your main balance information, data usage and their expiry date.

Perform Balance Checks Via Maxis Care Account

For customers who don’t want to download and keep the app in their phone memory to save space, this is a good alternative. It works like the app but without consuming any phone memory, though it consumes your internet data because it’s, after all, an online method. This technique allows you to manage multiple Maxis accounts easily, too. Follow these instructions to use do balance checks using Maxis Care account:

  1. Visit Maxis official website.
  2. Log in to your account using either email address or your Maxis mobile number along with your password.
  3. Tip. If you don’t have a Maxis account, register yourself by hitting the Sign-Up button.
  4. Once you are logged in, you will see your main balance and its validity on the dashboard. You can view the balance in detail too.

Check Your Maxis SIM Card Postpaid Bill

Postpaid customers have it easy. They can view, download, and print their current as well as previous bills in a few clicks. The procedure is the same as for prepaid balance checks. You can handle multiple accounts on the same portal and app and even pay your bills using the app and portal anytime and anywhere. With that said, here’s a quick update on the methods mentioned above:

View Postpaid Bill Due Amount by Maxis App

Follow the same instructions already given in the previous section about the Maxis app. After you are logged in, click on Bills. Once your bill downloads, send it to your email and print it.

Inspect Postpaid Bill Amount Through Maxis Care

Log in to your Maxis Care account online. After that:

  1. You will see the dashboard containing your due bill amount and its due date.
  2. Click on Bills and let the bill download.
  3. Once the bill downloads, you can print it.

The methods discussed above are convenient and quick. Even a layman without a lot of technical knowledge can use them. The user can use any technique as per his convenience and requirements. Even better, the methods above are free, and you can use them even with an empty main balance account. Keep in mind that you must be connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile data to use the online methods. Remember to use your Maxis number when using USSD codes, as other numbers won’t work.
