Du is the second-largest telecom company in the United Arab Emirates after Etisalat. If you too are Du subscribers and facing the issue to find your PUK code, you have come to the right place. Your Du SIM gets locked if you enter the wrong SIM PIN three times in a row. At that point, you have no other option but to insert its PUK (Personal Unlocking Key) code to unlock it. It is unique for every SIM card, i.e., you cannot use it to unlock another SIM card.
Remember that PUK code cannot be generated on our own. It can’t be figured out using any app or software, either. Thus, beware and don’t block your SIM card permanently by entering the wrong PUK codes. Once you learn what the code is, enter it to unlock the locked SIM card and then reset the four digits SIM PIN. To know the various methods for finding your Du PUK number, read further.
1. Call the Du Helpline Number to Find PUK Code
As your SIM card is blocked, you can’t make a call to the Du helpline number. That’s why you will need to have another phone to make the call and ask the customer service agent to give you the PUK code of yours. Follow the simple steps given below to do this.
- Call the Du helpline 155 from another Du postpaid or prepaid number. If you have another network SIM card or landline, then call 800 155. If you are making the call from outside the United Arab Emirates, dial +971 55 5678 155.
- Speak with the Du customer care representative and ask them for your PUK code.
- They will request personal details for verification purposes, such as the SIM owner’s name, date of birth, and so on.
- After verification is done, the agent will tell you your Du SIM PUK code. Listen to it carefully and note it down.
- Insert the PUK code to unblock the SIM and reset the 4-digit PIN.
2. Check Your Du Welcome Mail Package
If you have your Du SIM card kit/package with you, you can easily find your SIM card’s PUK code printed on it. Generally, all the SIM card kits have them printed. Before losing or discarding the kit, note down the PUK code to a safe place where you can easily access it when needed. Also, it is important to not share the code with others as it will help a wrongdoer breach your SIM’s security. PUK code is sensitive, so use it carefully. If you enter the wrong PUK code twice to unlock your Du SIM, it will result in permanent blocking of your SIM card.
Then you will be left with no other option but to buy a new SIM again. True, you can get a new phone number and likely the same Du payment plan after submitting the necessary documentation. However, we think this is an unwarranted hassle and little consolation if there was valuable data on the old SIM. To avert the need for a PUK code, it is recommended to not use the SIM PIN lock. If you have a smartphone, use the built-in locking functionality or install mobile device security applications. Such apps are available on both the Play Store (for Android) and App Store (for iPhone).
