Vodafone Idea is one of the most popular SIM cards in India. Previously two separate brands, Vodafone and Idea, now known as the “VI” (Vodafone Idea) aims to dominate the Indian market in the presence of new competition Jio. After the arrival of the Jio SIM card, just like many other SIM companies, Vodafone and Idea have also faced a huge downfall in revenue. Still continuing their voice and internet services in the country, the companies hardly trying to keep up with the rapidly changing SIM market. Here is the Vodafone Idea review.
Voice
Vodafone Idea is one of the largest voice operators in India. The service has towers and coverage even in the most rural areas making voice calls available for every individual. The quality of the calls is also great and the signal isn’t affected even during extreme weather. The Vodafone Idea voice plans are also pretty cheap compared to many other providers, not much, but still, there are plans that provide good value for the voice packs. Their recharge plans (with validity) are starting as low as Rs. 49.
Internet
When it comes to data usage, Vi has a wide array of network features in every generation of the wireless internet. They provide all kinds of plans ranging from 2G, 3G, and 4G based on user preference. 5G isn’t available yet, but the company is working on providing users access to the latest generation of wireless communication.
2G
There aren’t so many people using the 2G network these days. However, if your location is not supported by 3G yet, you can utilize the 2G feature of Vodafone Idea just by purchasing any of their 3G plans. The connection will be automatically downgraded to use the 2G network instead of 3G if your location does not have the 3G coverage. Vi has decided to continue their support for the 2G network in rural areas where the voice connection is given the preference. But there are no separate plans available for the 2G users.
3G
Vi 3G spectrum allows you to enjoy the speed of the 3G network at quite affordable rates. Their plans are not the cheapest in the industry, however considering the fact that the coverage is available even in the rural areas all over India, they are pretty good. The speed of the 3G network is also satisfactory. The 3G plans are starting as low as Rs. 19 and range up to Rs. 2595 based on the data and validity.
4G
4G is the latest technology available from Vodafone Idea currently in India just like many other operators as 5G is just getting discussed. Nevertheless to say that the speeds are pretty damn good. There aren’t many issues reported except in extreme weather conditions in very rural areas. The small data packs may not be enough for things like streaming. However, for the basic usage including browsing YouTube, the plans will be more than enough.
Vodafone Idea Plans
Vi provides a wide variety of both data and voice packs. If you are planning to purchase a Vi SIM card and want to know more about their packs this might be useful for you. These are the Vodafone Idea 2G/3G/4G plans.

Verdict
Vodafone Idea is a great SIM card if you are just planning to purchase a SIM card for your basic calling and data usage requirements. If your primary focus is making calls, this would be a great choice. If you are planning on using a lot of data, you may consider other alternatives such as Reliance Jio. Vodafone Idea has coverage all across India, the data and voice services are pretty fast, and provides pretty good customer support as well. Definitely worth a try.
