DST is the leading mobile service provider in Brunei, with the largest network coverage. As such, it’s a recommended carrier, whether you’re a resident or traveling there. Additionally, they seem to provide the best speeds, including 4G/LTE, and offer the best value for your money when buying a SIM card. Once you become a customer, you can manage your DST account via the “MyDST” smartphone app for Android and iOS. Finally, their Customer Service speaks English and is ready to help. We don’t think you’ll need it – learning how to activate DST SIM card is easy. Let’s begin.
1. Activate DST SIM card: Mobi
You can only activate a DST Mobi SIM card, their postpaid SIM card, at a physical DST branch (except DST Rimba). You must bring a valid Identity Card or a passport, and pay a deposit depending on the Mobi plan you choose. The same applies to foreigners, except that their documents mustn’t expire in less than 3 months.
2. Activate DST SIM card: Easi
To activate the DST Easi SIM card, carrier’s prepaid SIM card, you must recharge it with at least $20 (Brunei dollar) in credits. You can do that at the DST store, via an authorized DST vendor, or by calling *103*[12-digit SIM serial number]# (found on the SIM card package). To complete the activation process, you must call any phone number, domestic or in roaming.
Note. Once you receive your Easi prepaid SIM card, you have 7 days to finish the activation process. Don’t worry, DST will remind you with push SMS. On the 8th day and after, you need to visit any DST branch to lift the carrier SIM card block, allowing you to use the method above.
How does DST Easi Tourist SIM card activation work?
Activating a DST Easi Tourist SIM card is similar, but you can also send an SMS besides calling. Also, you don’t need to recharge the SIM card besides paying $15 (Brunei dollar) for the call, text, and data plan itself. The plan is only valid for 7 days after activation, and the SIM card itself expires after 30 days.
3. Reach out to DSTCare
If you’re unable to register your SIM card for any reason, you can contact DST in 6 ways:
- Visit the nearest DST store.
- Call 151 from your DST SIM card if you’re in Brunei. You’ll reach the DSTCare service, giving you further instructions.
- Dial +673 8987151 from any other SIM card phone number or overseas.
- Use their Contact Form.
- Register an account, then Submit a ticket.
- Contact them on their official Facebook and Instagram.
