Fizz was always well-known for their GSM network coverage, and more recently, the introduction of the 4G LTE network across Canada and the United States. The carrier also gained prominence for its referral system, which allows both sides to gain bonus funds (between $10 and $50) or free data when they sign up. This gives everyone an incentive to both become a customer and invite friends over. And, judging by their prices, becoming a user isn’t a hard pill to swallow. After all, you decided on it, and only need to learn how to activate Fizz SIM card. Luckily, we’re eager to help.
1. Activate Fizz SIM card online
Whether you have a prepaid SIM or pay as you go SIM, you can make it work from the comfort of your home after it arrives at your doorstep. So, here’s how activating a Fizz SIM card via website works:
- You can get to the Fizz activation page in 3 ways:
- Sign in to your Fizz account. Click on Overview, then select Get started.
- Visit the fizz.ca home page. Click on Mobile in the main menu, then Activate my SIM from the drop-down list.
- Opening the Fizz SIM Activation page directly, then signing in.
- Enter the 19-digit activation code into the empty text field. You can find it on the full-size SIM card you received from Fizz.
- Begin creating your payment plan via the Plan Wizard. Keep checking the monthly fee at the bottom until you’re satisfied.
- After clicking on Confirm, pick a SIM card phone number by selecting one of these options:
- Transfer a number to Fizz. Check method 2 for a detailed guide.
- Get a new number. Select one of the 5 offered phone numbers. You can also tap/click on Generate a new list of options up to 5 times.
- Find a number (enter the last 4 digits). For a $1 fee, you can decide on the last 4 digits, and let Fizz generate the rest.
- Click on Confirm and insert your SIM card. You’ll receive a confirmation text shortly.
2. Activation of a Fizz SIM card after phone number transfer
Follow steps 1-4 above and sub-step 1. Them, do this to keep the current phone number when transferring to Fizz:
- Enter your current phone number into the empty text field.
- Select the carrier you’re transferring from in the dropdown list.
- Enter one of the following:
- Account number. You can find it on your current phone bill.
- IMEI. Dial *#06# on your current phone. If IMEI is longer than 15 digits, only enter the first 15.
- Click on Next and inspect the payment plan. When you’re happy with it, click Submit.
- You’ll receive a transfer request in form of an SMS to confirm your decision.
- If there are no obstacles, the phone number will be transferred to Fizz within 2 hours.
Things to keep in mind
If the Fizz transfer fails, it’s likely due to one of these reasons:
- The phone number must still be active with the current carrier. Fizz will disconnect it.
- Only phone numbers from the Ottawa region and the Quebec provinces are eligible.
- Only a number whose area code is within the Fizz subscription area can be transferred.
- You can only transfer a personal number. Administrative (business, organization, institution) numbers cannot be transferred.
- Your current mobile network provider has anti-port measures in place. Contact them to have the protection disabled.
