Kogan is an Australian and New Zealander carrier best known for affordable monthly and yearly prepaid SIM card plans. The carrier is also flexible and allows its users to bring their own phone or port their number to the Kogan network. Additionally, they support multiple payment methods, including vouchers, and you don’t need to visit any of their stores to become a user. Finally, they have widespread 4G coverage across both countries, providing fast speed wherever you go. Since you don’t need any more convincing, let’s move onto how to activate the Kogan SIM card.
1. Activate Kogan SIM card online
We’ll use their Australian service to demonstrate the process since it’s nearly identical to the New Zealander one. The only differences are in the GUI (Graphical User Interface) design and the Activate page URL. With that said, activating the Kogan SIM card in Australia works like this:
1. Enter number details
Visit the Kogan Activation page, and then:
- Enter your full SIM card phone number under the Starter pack phone number.
- Find the SIM card serial number below the barcode on the SIM starter pack you received to enter the Last 4 digits of your SIM Number.
- Select either:
- Use a new number (the one you listed in step 1).
- Bring my existing number from another provider. Make sure it’s currently active, and that you’ve obtained the UPC (Unique Porting Code) first.
2. Enter personal details
Enter your personal information. This includes full name, address, city, zip code, etc. Most importantly, provide a valid form of ID. Because Australia doesn’t have personal identity cards, Kogan accepts IDs with a picture: a driver’s license, Medicare card, or a passport.
Tip. If you’re under the age of 18, you must have consent from a parent, responsible adult, or guardian.
3. Choose a plan and review the information
First, select a prepaid plan that fits your needs the best. Then, select a payment method, which can be a valid Visa, American Express, or MasterCard credit or debit card. Kogan also allows purchasing Prepay Plan vouchers from their online store. In that case, click on the I have an email with a voucher code option. Then, enter the voucher code you received into the Inbox of the e-mail address you entered.
4. Make the first recharge to activate the Kogan SIM card
You’ll receive a confirmation of your payment details and can proceed to create a user account. Then, simply recharge the minimum amount for the payment plan you chose, and your SIM will be activated shortly. If you don’t see a success message, check your personal details again, re-enter the voucher code, or use method 2 below.
