Luckily, the procedure is identical for both user groups, so let’s demonstrate how to activate KPN SIM card.
Is KPN SIM activation unnecessary?
In some cases, yes. KPN’s online activation system is created to let you know when that action isn’t needed. We’ll save you time by giving you an abridged version. KPN SIM card is already activated after you insert it in these cases:
- If you applied for a new SIM or a replacement SIM in the KPN store.
- You purchased a new prepaid SIM card.
- If the SIM was delivered by a courier, not left in the mailbox.
- If you bought a smart device from KPN alongside a subscription or payment plan.
1. Activate KPN SIM card online
KPN has designed an interactive step-by-step activation system on their website. Here’s how activating a SIM card from KPN online works:
1. Select the right path
Want the interactive version? Visit the Simkaart Activeren page and start answering questions. It will lead you to these links, which you can visit immediately to save time:
- Updated from old to 4G or 5G at KPN’s request, got a brand-new no-contract SIM, or renewed your KPN payment plan? Go to the Mijn-Bestelling page.
- Ordered a replacement SIM card after losing, damaging, or upgrading an old SIM card? Visit the final SIM-kaart Activatieformulier page.
2. Fill out the requested information
Based on the circumstances, follow one of these methods to complete KPN SIM activation:
1. SIM-kaart activatieformulier
Enter the requested information before clicking the Verstuur (Send) button:
- Mobie nummer (Mobile number) – Enter the 10-12 digit phone number printed on the front of the nano-SIM card.
- SIM-kaartnummer (SIM card serial number) – Find it on the back of the full-size SIM card you received, below the bar code.
2. Mijn-Bestelling
In this case, enter this user information before clicking on Verder (Continue):
- E-simkaartnummer (E-SIM card serial number). Find it in the same place as above. This time, KPN auto-filled the first 6 digits.
- Activatiecode (Activation code). Sent by e-mail by KPN when you made the order. If it didn’t arrive, do this:
- Click on Activatiecode kwijt? (Lost activation code?).
- Enter your E-SIM serial number and your address postal code before clicking on Verder.
- Tip. You have 3 attempts to do this correctly.
