Activation of Woolworths SIM cards is a straightforward process. Although mobile network services come second to their online grocery shopping and massive supermarkets, through a partnership with Telstra, a fellow Australian company, they provide quality plans. Additionally, while they offer postpaid plans, those aren’t at the forefront, likely to reduce the workload and responsibility. Luckily, they excel at online services for prepaid SIM cards, and many have a validity of 30 days or more. Users can also control nearly everything about their accounts on the official website or mobile apps for Android and iOS. With that said, these are the instructions to activate a Woolworths SIM card.
1. Activate a SIM card from Woolworths on the official website
Whether you ordered a SIM card online or visited one of the Woolworths stores, you had to provide:
- Any permitted form of an ID — This includes a Medicare card (only for prepaid SIMs due to lawful constraints), an Australian passport or driving license, or a visa/passport for foreigners
- Supported payment methods — Debit or credit cards, or gift cards on their website
- Old carrier details — If you decided to transfer your mobile phone number to Woolworths, you must obtain the MNP (Mobile Number Portability) code, date of birth of the account’s owner, reference number, and other information

We mention that because those bits of information are precisely what you’ll need to provide during activation of a prepaid or postpaid SIM card. The procedure involves typing that information to authenticate yourself, and works like this:
- Head to the Woolworths Mobile SIM card activation page.
- Check the SIM card package you got from the carrier. Enter the 9 to 13-digit number printed on the front of your SIM card, next to the logo.
- Solve the captcha challenge and click on Next.
- After the system checks the validity, you’ll be asked to provide the information we mentioned above one after another. Woolworth will inform you that the SIM is active and that you should insert it and optionally download their mobile application.
- Important. The app is instrumental if you’re using a Woolworths embedded SIM card, as downloading it and signing in to the account will give you a prompt to download a SIM profile from the carrier on Android and iOS. In case you’re confused, you need to log in with the e-mail address and password you provided during registration. Then, to bypass two-factor authentication, enter the code sent to your e-mail Inbox, which lets you log in to the website and mobile app.
Note. Prepaid SIM requires the user to be at least 10 years of age, while postpaid services are exclusive to users who are 18 or older. Sometimes you may get a “The SIM number you have entered is invalid or already used. Please check the number and try again.” error message despite this being the reason.
2. Reach out to Woolworths Customer Service
We know some users aren’t adept at online registrations, whether due to a lack of Internet connectivity or technological prowess. Thankfully, the carrier is accustomed to serving the public of all ages and knowledge levels. Therefore, feel free to contact Woolworths Customer Support in these ways:
- Accounts on their website or mobile app — Both options permit you to reach out to Customer Care. You can chat or call after you log in.
- Live chat — Open any page on their website and click or tap the Chat Now button in the bottom right corner. Their assistant, Olive, will answer at first. If you require something Olive cannot solve, you’ll be redirected to a live representative.
- Calling — Though this number is reserved for complaints, you can dial 1300 10 1234 and press option 5 when instructed. This line is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM AEST. On Saturdays, it’s between 10 AM and 4 PM.
