MTC is a Kuwaiti telecom company also known as Mobile Telecommunications Company K.S.C.P. or simply referred to as Zain which is its brand name since September 2007. The company was established in 1983 as MTC (Mobile Telecommunications Company) and rebranded at the aforementioned date. The company’s headquarters are in Kuwait City but it provides mobile network services across the Middle East and North Africa. More specifically, in 8 countries, which are Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sudan, South Sudan, and Morocco. It is one of the largest mobile network providers in the Middle East with 48.3 million subscribers as of June 30th, 2021. With such a large customer base, there is a need for information regarding how to check your account balance on a Zain SIM card.

Brief rundown

There are three major ways to check your prepaid balance if you are a Zain prepaid subscriber in Kuwait:

  1. Through USSD codes
  2. Via My Zain portal/website
  3. Using Zain KW app

Zain postpaid customers, apart from the Zain official website and Zain Kuwait app, can use two more methods to learn their due bill amount:

  1. Using call to Zain IVR (Interactive voice response)
  2. Through zBot WhatsApp number

Do Balance Checks Through USSD Codes

USSD codes are known as short codes or star codes, which is an offline method to learn your balance. To clarify, there is no need to have an internet connection while using it; all you need is sufficient Zain network signal coverage. The following are two important USSD codes belonging to Zain:

  • *142# : To check main balance and validity.
  • *107# : To check your internet data balance.

You can use USSD codes anywhere and anytime. They are free of cost and the easiest method to look up your balance information. 

Perform Balance Check of a Zain SIM Card Through Official Portal

This is an online method to examine your balance information which the users who don’t want to download and keep the Zain app can use. The following steps will help you to utilize its functionality:

  1. Access the My Zain portal after logging in to your country’s Zain website.
  2. Tip. To do that, you’ll need your SIM card mobile number or email ID (username) along with a password.
  3. After that, you will see the dashboard containing all your information related to data, voice and text.
  4. Note. You can use the same process to learn your Zain postpaid bill amount. 

Check Balance Through Zain KW Mobile Application

Zain KW is the official application of Zain in Kuwait. It is an online method to inspect your balance, as it requires both an internet connection and a smart device like a smartphone or tablet. Using this app lets you do many more things apart from checking your various balances. Follow these steps to check your balance in Zain KW app:

  1. Download and install Zain KW app either from Google Play Store (for Android devices) or Apple iTunes (for Apple devices).
  2. Open the app and sign in to your account with your username and password.
  3. Tip. If you don’t have an account already, then create one by:
    1. Tapping on the Sign-Up button.
    2. When you tap the Sign-Up button, you will be asked for your Zain mobile number.
    3. A verification code will be sent to you on that number.
    4. Enter the authentication code that arrived.
  4. Next, a dashboard will appear containing information of your main balance and its validity.
  5. Note. Again, you can use this procedure to know your Zain postpaid due bill amount.

You can also tap “Check Usage” from the menu in the Zain KW app or just ask zBot on Whatsapp “Can I know my usage?” The zBot Whatsapp number is 91107107. You will get to see your balance details instantly. 

Inspect your Postpaid Bill Amount

On top of using Zain KW app and the official Zain Kuwait website you can also check the postpaid balance of a Zain SIM card via these techniques:

  1. Make a call to 107 and follow the instructions on IVR. You will get to listen to your various balances.
  2. Uuse zBot to check your bill with WhatsApp. The zBot WhatsApp number is identical to the one we provided in the previous section. Just type “What is my total bill?” and send it the message.

Conclusion

The methods to check your Zain phone balance mentioned above are easy and free. The user will choose the method at his convenience and the type of SIM card. Some methods are offline, whereas others are online. You must be careful while using online methods if you have no internet data pack active. Reminder – using mobile data may result in deductions from your main balance.
