Jio is a rapidly growing network provider in India with a huge market share right from its launch. With over 400 million users, Jio is the third largest mobile network provider in the world at the time of writing this article. From the free voice calling to the fast 4G network available all across the largest democracy in the world, Jio is dominating the SIM card market. Today, we are going to take a deep look at this SIM card company owned by Mukesh Ambani. Here is the Reliance Jio SIM Review.
Jio Voice
Jio provides free voice calls with almost all of their internet packages. You will be rewarded with unlimited free calling when you purchase a Jio internet plan. Unlike many other service providers, there are no limits for the number of minutes you can call or any other hidden fees. You can enjoy Jio voice calling as much as you would like until the end of the validity of your current plan.
The voice quality is also excellent as they have coverage all across the country. Except in extreme weather conditions, the signals never go out making it possible to enjoy unlimited free calling from your Jio sim card. If you do not want to subscribe to the internet, there are also standalone Talktime plans available that allow making calls without an Internet subscription.
Compared to many other voice call providers, Jio voice call is extremely affordable. The signal quality is also great making it one of the best options you can choose if your primary concern is making calls.
Jio Internet
Unlike many other internet service providers, Jio just has a single line of plans on their 4G network. Jio provides the best 4G internet in India. Other services such as Jio Cinema, Jio Saavn, etc. integrated with their 4G plan provide great value. You can enjoy all these services for free of cost on supported Jio plans as soon as you activate your Jio SIM.
Jio Plans
Jio plans are quite different from traditional voice or internet plans. They follow a GB per day method that allows users to signup for a certain amount of GBs of data every day for a given period. These plans can be extended by Data Booster packs if you run out of data and still has validity left. They also provide some regular data packs if you prefer so. These are the Jio plans.
2GB / Day Packs
2GB per day Jio plan provides 2GB of internet every day for given days based on the plan validity. You won’t be able to browse with higher speeds after the 2GB usage. It resets every day. These are the Jio 2GB per day plans.
Plan | Validity | Benefits |
---|---|---|
₹249 | 28 Days | Unlimited 56 GB |
₹444 | 56 Days | Unlimited 112 GB |
₹598 | 56 Days | Unlimited 112 GB & Disney+ Hotstar |
₹599 | 84 Days | Unlimited 168 GB |
₹2399 | 365 Days | Unlimited 730 GB |
₹2599 | 365 Days | Unlimited 740 GB & Disney+ Hotstar |
You can recharge Jio with any one of these plans.
Jio Internet Speed Test
Most of the Jio users use the SIM card to access internet services. So to benchmark the performance of the SIM card, the best way is to provide a deep look into the speed of the Jio internet network. We performed some tests using different tools available online while connected to the Jio network. Take a look.
Reliance Jio Issues
We talked a lot about the good and fun stuff that Reliance Jio provides. But is there any issues that we faced as a Jio customer? As you may have already guessed, we have. It is almost impossible to find a service that has zero flaws. So here are the most significant issues that we faced while using Jio.
1. Internet connectivity drops
One of the most frustrating issues that we faced while using the Jio SIM card was the internet connectivity dropping issue that caused several downloads to fail, and a lot of online gaming matches to disconnect. The problem is that every once in a while the Reliance Jio connection drops causing the device not to be able to use the internet connection.
This is not a huge issue for someone who makes use of the internet for regular day to day things. However, for those who need uninterrupted internet access, especially for online gaming and downloading stuff, it can be irritating. The problem does not happen every day. But happens once in a while.
2. Internet speed reduction
Just like the previous issue we mentioned, another internet connectivity issue is the drop in the internet connection speed. I am not talking about the reduction in the speed after the 1.5GB of data usage. But even within that limit, several times we faced a reduction in the speed. This issue is not so common as the connectivity dropping issue. However, it still happens every now and then.
Pros
- Super-fast 4G internet
- Affordable unlimited plans
- Coverage all across the country
Cons
- Restricts certain websites
Verdict
Reliance Jio is arguably the best SIM card for internet users in India. The service provided is extremely good and has everything you would need to access the internet. Their free integrated services sweeten the features further providing great value on their plans. If you are also planning to get a SIM card for your smartphone, Jio would be the perfect fit. Free calling, unlimited 4G, what else would you expect from a SIM card provider?
